Eight Day Safari

Arusha-Tarangire-Lake Manyara-Serengeti-Ngorongoro Crater

Day 1: Arusha-Tarangire

Pick up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi soon after breakfast, then drive to Tarangire National Park, named after the Tarangire River which rises in Tanzania’s central highland. The river lures thousands of plains game to its banks. You will enjoy half day game drive in this 3000 square mile park which is known for its huge number of elephants and baobab trees. Tarangire is the home of over 2,000 elephants and 500 bird species. After an eventful day we will spend our dinner and overnight inside Tarangire National Park.

Day 2: Tarangire – Lake Manyara National

After breakfast, we take our picnic lunch, we head towards Lake Manyara National Park for an early morning game drive.

This spectacular park is located at the north-western corner of Lake Manyara, a hallow soda lake, which lies at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. Manyara is not only known for its large flocks of flamingos, but also for the elusive tree climbing lions. We break for lunch and a rest over the heat of the day before continuing on an afternoon game drive, after which we drive towards the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park

Our journey starts shortly after breakfast with a scenic drive up the Rift Valley escarpment to Serengeti National Park. You will be crossing the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority. We can make a brief optional stop at Olduvai Gorge (optional) and its museum which documents the discovery of 1.8 million year old human-like fossils. Thereafter we head for the Serengeti National Park, game driving along the way to the lodge.

Day 4: Central Serengeti

The whole day is devoted for a spectacular game drive around the Serengeti National Park. Enjoy hot lunch followed by a short siesta. In the afternoon have a short game drive until sunset. The Central Serengeti offers superb game viewing all year round due to its abundance of resident animals. Specifically, the Seronera River Valley in the Central Serengeti is a ‘must see’ on every safari regardless of the specific month of travel.

Optionally, in the morning, you can have a chance to glide hot air balloon with champagne breakfast in the air.

After a memorable day we drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5-6: North Serengeti

After breakfast each day we will enjoy a full day in the north of Serengeti. This is where you will be lucky to evidence the migration across the Mara River. The purpose of extending to this north area is to be able to see the migration, but apart from that this endless plain of Serengeti is rich in wild all time of the year. Depending on the time of your visit, your driver guide will be able to share with you where the herd’s current location is.

Day 7: Serengeti –Ngorongoro Crater

Upon the completion of your breakfast, with your boxed lunch from the lodge you will depart the lodge and take a final exploration of the amazing Serengeti National Park. After your morning safari drive, we will head towards the Ngorongoro National Park with a game en route at Ngorongoro conservation area. You will also have a chance to stop at Masai Boma, a traditional Masai village (optional). Later in the evening, you will arrive at the edge of the amazing Ngorongoro Crater, which will be your over-night destination.

Day 8: Ngorongoro crater –Arusha

After breakfast, we begin our 600m decent into this magnificent crater for a morning half-day game drive. Ngorongoro Crater is home to an estimated 30,000 wild animals including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black Rhinos. The crater has a dense population of predators like the lion, cheetah and the elusive leopard. We will enjoy a picnic lunch at the Ngoitokitok Springs while watching the beautiful hippos in and out of the small spring formed lake in the crater. After lunch we will proceed with an afternoon game drive while we make our ascent out of the crater and drive to Arusha for drop off.
